Our story
HenArt was founded in 2012 by Henk Verhoeven, an animal lover from the Netherlands who, from an early age, sensed the close connection between humans, animals, and nature. Henk grew up with animals, loved nature, and at some point, asked himself a crucial question:
Why should our pets' diets come at the expense of the environment?
When he realized how resource-intensive and harmful conventional meat production is—including for pet food—he began searching for alternatives. He found the answer in plant proteins and insect protein: sustainable, nutrient-rich, and perfectly suited to the needs of dogs and cats.
This is how HenArt was born – from a vision to make pet food healthier, more modern and more environmentally friendly.
Our approach
HenArt combines science, sustainability, and a love of animals. Together with nutritionists, veterinarians, and sustainability experts, Henk has developed recipes that combine the highest quality with ecological responsibility.
Our range includes dry and wet food enriched with plant-based meat alternatives such as chicken, beef, rabbit, or lamb. These products not only look like meat, they also offer the same high nutritional value – without the ecological drawbacks.
